The Hammond E100 organ is all tuned up.

A new a new fuse, some circuit mods, a little oil here and there, a new set of 6L6 power tubes in the Leslie and she is ready to bubble. We ended up moving the organ to a different part of the room as well, it really dropped the noise floor down. I am considering modifying the Leslie with a 2 speed motor and new horns at some point in the near future.

Nate’s Solo CD, Blizzard Practice and Leather Lips.

Happy Saturday everyone,

Today I’ll be working with Nate Leavitt . The plan is to record some harp and a bit of nylon string guitar on his upcoming solo project. I’m hoping to try a different engineering approach that’s been bouncing around my head lately. I’ll let you know how it turns out. After the recording session, Pip and Myers will be showing up for 2011′s first Blizzard practice. We’ll be dusting off the cobewbs mostly. Oh and while I wait for the guys, I’m trying out a bottle of Leather Lips IPA, . This one, brewed up the highway in Havehill comes highly recommeded. On first impression, I’m only slightly impressed. It’s a tad light bodied for me, and slightly unbalanced, as the crisp citrus bite overwhelms the other flavors. It has a very long finish too. Not bad, but I’d trade the other 5 in the pack for Harpoon if I could.

Trumpets, Ashtrays and Coffee Cups.

Today, after fiddling with monitor placement, work continued on Kevin Stevenson’s new disc. We finished up a mix of “Jenny Says” and got some great trumpet parts down on “Eddie’s On The South Side”. Arranged by Dave Livngston, and played by Sara, they add a great new direction to the song. I also managed to eek a nod out to one of my favorite bands in the mix. All this and Kevin’s entertaining shenanigans only caused the loss of a coffee cup and an old ashtray. All in all a good day.

Hello world!

Welcome to my studio’s webland. I will be blogging occasionaly during recording sessions. I may also comment on some non recording stuff such as beer and road bikes. Check in tomorrow as I continue working with former Shods frontman Kevin Stevenson on his new 6 song CD. Now I’m off to my stationary trainer for 80 minutes of Aero Base building. I hope to get some pictures of the studio up tonight.

Cujo out.
